HOW TO SAVE YOUR FOOD SCRAPS

Step 4: Find the nearest Compost Power drop off site near you.

Step 1: Find an airtight container.

Step 2: Remove any stickers and/or twist ties.

Step 5: Find our brown or black bins and dump your food scraps in.

In order to keep odors in and pests out, its best to store food scraps in airtight containers.
(Reusing leak proof take-out containers is a great option!)
Taking off the stickers and twist ties from your food scraps before you compost them is a small step that makes a big difference! It helps compost break down faster and keeps bits of plastic out of your compost.

Step 3: Store food scraps in the freezer section of your refrigerator.

Freezing your food scraps is a great way to keep fruit flies away and lets you collect a good amount before heading to your compost drop-off.
Take your food scraps out of any plastic bags (even if they say "compostable") before you put them in the bin. After you've dropped off your scraps, close the lid tightly.
